Note: All SCORM packages are exported using the SCORM 2004 4th Edition version.
All training modules provided by CanIPhish can be exported as SCORM packages. Once exported, these modules can be uploaded to third-party LMS platforms to then deliver, assign, and manage the overall training experience.
In this support article, we'll outline why you should use SCORM packages, how they can be generated, advanced configuration options, and an example integration.

What Is A SCORM Package?
If your organization utilizes training that's delivered from multiple separate providers, then you're likely in a position where the use of a single consolidated LMS would provide a better experience for your learners. SCORM is a universal model that makes it possible for different LMS platforms to communicate with one another, such that all training can be delivered from one platform, providing learners with a unified learning experience, regardless of who is providing the underlying training. SCORM packages are the vehicle used to facilitate this integration.
How To Generate SCORM Packages In The CanIPhish Cloud Platform
To export SCORM packages for use in third-party LMS platforms, follow the below steps:
- Login to your CanIPhish account and go to the Training Modules page: https://caniphish.com/User/TrainingModules
- Click on the 'SCORM Packages' button on the middle-right side of the page:
- Specify the SCORM packages to be exported and the default language the training modules should be displayed in (if left as dynamic translation, then the learners browser language will be used to determine the most suitable language). Once specified, click 'Export Selected Modules':
- The SCORM packages will generate and automatically download within 5-10 seconds.
- If multiple training modules are selected, then all SCORM packages will be included in a single large ZIP file. This ZIP file needs to be unzipped. Once unzipped, all SCORM packages will then be viewable as individual ZIP files. These ZIP files should be uploaded to your third-party LMS platform in their zipped format.
Advanced SCORM Settings
When using SCORM packages with a third-party LMS, you may want to enable or disable certain LMS functionality within CanIPhish. Namely:
- Training Completion Tracking: If a learner passes a SCORM-delivered training assignment, should the completed assignment be visible in their CanIPhish Learner Dashboard?
- Training Completion Notifications: If a learner passes a SCORM-delivered training assignment, should they receive an email notification from CanIPhish with their certificate of completion?
To configure these settings, simply click the 'Advanced Settings' button within the SCORM Packages popup. You can then configure the above options.
Important Note: These settings do not influence the generation of SCORM packages but instead help CanIPhish understand what actions should occur when we see that SCORM training has been completed (i.e., you do not need to regenerate SCORM packages if these settings are changed).
Example SCORM Integration
For this example we'll be using SCORM Cloud as they offer a perpetual free tier. This is purely for demonstration purposes - if you have your own LMS then follow the vendor guidance to import SCORM packages. If you want to follow this example, you can signup for an account here: https://app.cloud.scorm.com/sc/guest/SignUpForm
This example assumes you have already downloaded the training module SCORM packages which you want to import.
- Click the 'Add Content' button up the top-right, followed by 'Import a SCORM, AICC, xAPI or cmi5 package:
- Specify a Course ID (e.g. Phishing). Click 'Browse' and select the Phishing.zip SCORM package that was generated in CanIPhish. Click 'Import Course':
- Once the course is uploaded, you can then trial the course by clicking the 'Launch' button which will make a popup appear which contains the training module:
- You're all done! You've finished this example demonstrating how to import a SCORM package.
Frequently Asked Questions
What version of SCORM are the exported packages using?
CanIPhish generated SCORM packages align with the SCORM 2004 4th Edition version.
Will SCORM packages maintain a white-labelled configuration?
Yes. If you have setup white-labelling in CanIPhish, then the SCORM packages will maintain the white-label when learners load the training content.
Can I modify the language or appearance that learners see when loading SCORM packages?
Yes. You can configure both the default language and appearance that learners see when training modules are loaded.
If I export training modules into my own LMS, do I still need to setup Training Campaigns in CanIPhish?
No. Once you export our training modules into your own LMS, your LMS becomes the vehicle by which training is assigned, managed, and monitored. While you can still use CanIPhish's built-in training campaign functionality, you do not need to.
How is CanIPhish licensing enforced for SCORM training packages?
Everytime a SCORM training is loaded in a third-party LMS, CanIPhish is provided with the learners ID. We monitor these IDs to determine how many licenses are being utilized.
