You can cancel or downgrade your CanIPhish subscription at any time. This article explains how to do it, when the change takes effect, and what happens to your tenant, your data and your employees' training afterwards.
Before you start
- Only Platform Super Admins and Platform Admins can manage billing. If you can't see Manage Subscription, ask your Platform Super Admin.
- If you're a partner who bills each customer separately, switch to that customer's tenant first. Each customer tenant has its own subscription.
How to cancel or downgrade
- In the left-hand menu, under Configuration, click Subscription & Billing.
- Click Manage Subscription. You'll be redirected to our payment gateway.
- Choose to cancel your subscription, or change it, and confirm.
If the change you need isn't available in the payment gateway, email support@caniphish.com and we'll help.
When the change takes effect
- A cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period: the end of the billing month for monthly subscriptions, or the end of the annual term for annual ones. Until then, everything keeps working as normal.
- On annual subscriptions, a downgrade (for example, fewer employees, or Enterprise to Professional) also takes effect at the end of the billing period.
- After the billing period ends, Subscription status on the Subscription & Billing tab shows Canceled.
What happens when your subscription ends
Your tenant moves to the Free plan shortly after your billing period ends. The platform checks subscription status once a day.
Your employee licences
- Your licence count drops to the Free allowance of 10 employees.
- Employees who have already used a licence in the current monthly period can still be sent phishing and training until your licences reset. Anyone else can only be sent phishing or training while fewer than 10 licences are in use.
- From your next monthly reset, you can send phishing and training to up to 10 employees a month. The Subscription & Billing tab shows how many days are left next to Monthly quota reset in.
Features
Features that need a paid plan stop working. For example, Premium phishing emails and training modules are locked again, and Enterprise features such as voice phishing and the AI content generators are no longer available. See Plans, Limits and What's Included for what the Free plan includes.
Your data and your team
- Cancelling doesn't delete anything. Your tenant, employee lists, campaign and training history, and reports stay in place, and your platform users can still sign in.
- If you want to subscribe again later, click Purchase Subscription on the Subscription & Billing tab. Your data will still be there.
Campaigns and automatic training assignment
- Scheduled and recurring campaigns, including campaigns that use New employee sync, don't stop when your subscription ends. They keep running and keep assigning training automatically.
- They can only reach employees within your Free allowance. Phishing to anyone else shows Failure - Email Quota Exceeded, and training shows Error - Maximum Quota Hit.
- If you don't want a campaign to continue, use Archive campaign or Delete campaign in its actions menu on the Campaigns page before your subscription ends.
Employees part-way through training
- Training that was already assigned stays on employees' learner dashboards, and they can still complete it.
- Interactive training games need a paid plan, so employees can't play an assigned training game after your subscription has ended.
Partners using a single master subscription
If the master subscription on your master tenant ends, every customer tenant that draws licences from it also moves to the Free plan.
Closing your account or deleting your data
- To close your own login, click your profile icon at the top right, choose View User Profile, expand Account Deactivation and click Deactivate Account. If you're the only user in your tenant, the tenant is deactivated too. This can't be undone.
- Deactivating your account doesn't cancel your subscription, so cancel your subscription first.
- If you're leaving CanIPhish and want your organization's data deleted, email support@caniphish.com. Under our Data Processing Agreement, when our services to you end we delete your organization's personal data within 10 business days and confirm this in writing. If your data is transferred under the Standard Contractual Clauses, you can ask us to return it instead.
