Editing a Manually Imported Employee List
If you’ve manually uploaded an employee list, you can edit individual entries with ease. For example, if an employee is missing a job title or company name, simply:
- Click on the cell you want to update.
- Enter the required information.
- Press Enter
- Save the employee list
Performing Bulk Edits
If multiple employees need the same update, you can use the bulk edit feature:
-
Select employees by checking the box next to their names (or use the Select All checkbox).
- Choose the field to update (e.g., Company).
- Enter the new value
- Click Bulk Update
- Click Save to lock in your changes
Once applied, all selected employees will have the updated information.
Using Advanced Attributes
Advanced Attributes allow you to store and utilize additional employee details, enhancing automation and personalization. More information about attributes and how they are used. can be found here.
CanIPhish supports:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Email Address (Mandatory)
- Company
- Job Title
- Country
- Language
- Supervisor Email
- Custom Field 1
- Custom Field 2
These attributes can be used in phishing simulations to make emails feel more realistic, but also support a variety of other use-cases, such as CCing supervisors in overdue training notifications, auto-selecting an employee's preferred language, and much more. For a details list, please see our overview on How Employee Information Is Used.
Example: Adding a Custom Attribute for Realistic Phishing Emails
Say for example you want to inject an employee’s city into phishing emails:
- Select employees by checking the box next to their names (or use the Select All checkbox).
- Choose the field to update, in this case, Custom Field #1
- Enter a city
- Save the list.
Now, when creating a phishing template, you can insert {{.Target-Custom1}} to dynamically reference the employee’s city. This results in emails like:
"Someone in Sydney just used your password to try signing in."
For more details about dynamic variables, refer to our Email Templates Guide.
Locking Attributes in a Synced Directory List
When using directory syncing, any manual changes will be overwritten during the next directory sync. To prevent this, you can lock modified attributes:
- Make an edit to an employee’s details.
- A lock icon will appear next to the modified row, indicating it is protected from sync updates.
To remove the lock, click on the lock icon or use the bulk unlock action. Once unlocked, any future sync will overwrite the changes.
