Getting Started
The customer management dashboard isn't enabled by default. This functionality is reserved for use by CanIPhish Partners. If you'd like to become a partner, simply register interest on our Partner page. We'll get you set up with a free 14-day trial, which gives you access to our partner features. During the trial you can create up to 20 customer tenants.
Once your trial is enabled, the customer management dashboard will be available at: https://caniphish.com/platform/settings?queryType=ManageCustomer
It can also be accessed by clicking 'Customer Management' in the Configuration options.
Creating Customer Tenants
Once the customer management dashboard has been enabled, you'll be able to seamlessly create new customer tenants.
To do this, click New customer at the top of the Customer Management tab, enter the Company name, choose a Storage region and click Create. You can't change the storage region yourself after the tenant is created. To move a customer tenant to another region, contact the CanIPhish support team; any active campaigns in that tenant need to be archived first. You'll be the new tenant's Platform Super Admin. If New customer is greyed out, set your master tenant first at the bottom of the Customer Management tab.
Switching Customer Tenants
Once a customer tenant has been created, it appears in the Customer Management table. To switch to it, choose Switch to tenant from its actions menu:
You can also switch between tenants using their name from the dropdown menu on the top bar
The item flagged with the "Current Tenant" prefix represents the customer tenant you are actively logged into. If you select another tenant from the dropdown, you will be seamlessly switched into that new tenant. You'll notice that the page re-loads during this process. In this case, I selected the "CanIPhish Demo 4" tenant.
You can distinguish the tenant you're actively logged into, by looking for the company name associated to it. This can be viewed in three locations:
Location 1: User Profile
Location 2: User Profile Icon
Location 3: Active tenant on customer management dashboard
Location 4: In the top black bar
Managing Customer Tenants
Each customer tenant operates in complete isolation. It has its own seperate role-based access controls, subscription, employee lists, campaigns, reporting, etc. This is designed to prevent customer data spillovers. While each tenant is completely separate, we have introduced automation to copy white-labelling settings between each tenant. This is designed to simplify the process of managing white-labelling, as setting it up for each new customer tenant would be tedious and inefficient.
To copy white-labelled settings between customer tenants (where white-labelling has already been setup on atleast one tenant), follow the below steps:
- 1. Select the Activate button next to a tenant you'd like to copy white-labelled settings to:
- Under the "From" dropdown, select the tenant which you'd like to copy the settings FROM. In the example, we are copying the white-label settings from CyberCorp to ABC.
- Select Save and you're all done!
Can't see the Activate button? The White-Labelling column is hidden by default. Click Configure Columns and select White-Labelling. Activate only appears for tenants whose white-label shows Disabled, and you need to be at least a Platform Admin in both tenants to copy settings.
Tenant Syncing
CanIPhish provides tenant synchronization features that allow you to push configuration from your master tenant to your sub-tenants. This is a fast way to perform a mass sync.
To open Master Tenant Management, click Automations at the top of the Customer Management tab.
Here is an overview of the various features and how they work
Apply to new subordinate tenants (copied automatically whenever you create a customer tenant; click Save after changing them):
- White-label: new customer tenants get your master tenant's published white-label. Nothing is applied if it has none, and you can still change the white-label tenant by tenant.
- Partner team: new customer tenants get your master tenant's partner staff with the same roles (a Super Admin joins as an Admin). You become the new tenant's Super Admin.
Push to all subordinate tenants now (a one-off copy from your master tenant to every customer tenant; deactivated tenants are skipped):
- Email notifications: copies your master tenant's email notification settings, replacing each customer tenant's own.
- Partner team: adds partner staff from your master tenant who are missing from a customer tenant. It never changes the roles of people already there.
- Phishing & training content: copies your custom phishing emails, phishing websites, sender profiles and training modules. Items with the same name in a customer tenant are replaced.
- White-label: applies your master tenant's published white-label to every customer tenant, replacing theirs.
- False-positive suppression: copies your master tenant's false-positive suppression settings, replacing each customer tenant's own.
Inviting A Customer To Join A Tenant You've Created
Does your customer want access to view their campaign statistics, make modifications to phishing emails, or otherwise generally interact with the platform? Let's walk through how this occurs.
When you want to invite a customer to join a tenant you've created specifically for them, it's the same process you'd normally follow for setting up a new user. The main thing to make sure of, is that you're currently switched into the correct tenant (See Switching Customer Tenants above)!
Once you've determined you're in the correct tenant, simply go to Platform Settings > User Management, click Add New User and give them the Platform Admin, Platform User or Platform Reporter role.
How Does This Work With White-Labelling?
If you've setup white-labelling on one tenant, make sure that you duplicate the white-labelled configuration to your new customer tenant (See the example snippet below):
Once duplicated, your new customer tenant will leverage the existing configuration made on your other tenant. Any user invitations, scheduled reporting, etc. will appear to come from the white-labelled domain.
Will My Customers See The Pricing Page If Their Tenant Is White-Labelled?
No. While you will still see the Pricing and Subscription pages as a "Platform Super Admin", they will be hidden from view for anyone else accessing that tenant. Since there can only ever be one "Platform Super Admin" you can have assurance that your end-customer isn't seeing references to the CanIPhish brand.
Will My Customers See The Customer Management Dashboard?
No. Only you, as a partner, can see this. When we onboard new partners, we unlock access to the Customer Management Dashboard and make it so any user who signs up with an email address from your domain (e.g. partner-xyz.com) will also have access to it. It's important to know that simply having access to the Customer Management Dashboard doesn't automatically give you access to other tenants - you still need to have access provisioned on a tenant-by-tenant basis. Once access is provisioned, then the tenant will appear in your dropdown selector.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the tenant switcher?
If you sign in with an email address on your partner domain and you've been added to more than one tenant, a tenant switcher appears in the top bar of the platform. It shows Current Tenant: followed by the name of the tenant you're in. Click it, search for a tenant and select it to switch. You can also open Customer Management and choose Switch to tenant from a tenant's actions menu.
The switcher only lists tenants you've been added to. If a tenant is missing, ask its Platform Super Admin or one of its Platform Admins to add you under Platform Settings > User Management. The switcher is a partner feature tied to your email domain: an account on any other domain doesn't get it, even if it has been added to several tenants. If you signed up with a different domain, contact support@caniphish.com.
Is there a limit on how many customer tenants I can create?
During a partner trial, you can create up to 20 customer (subordinate) tenants. Once your partner account is active, the platform doesn't set a fixed limit.
What's the minimum number of licences for a customer tenant?
With a single master subscription, each customer tenant needs at least 5 licences. You also can't set a tenant below the number of licences it has already used in its current monthly cycle. Set allocations under Customer Management > License allocations. See Using A Single Master Subscription (License Allocation).
Are my white-label settings copied to customer tenants automatically?
Only when a customer tenant is created. If White-label is enabled under Automations > Apply to new subordinate tenants, each new customer tenant gets your master tenant's published white-label. Changes you make to your master tenant's white-label later aren't copied to existing customer tenants automatically. To update them:
- All customer tenants: in Customer Management, click Automations. Under Push to all subordinate tenants now, click Push next to White-label. This replaces each customer tenant's white-label with your master tenant's.
- One customer tenant that doesn't have a white-label yet: in the Customer Management table, click Configure Columns and select White-Labelling (the column is hidden by default). Click Activate next to the tenant, choose the tenant to copy from under From and click Save. Activate only appears for tenants whose white-label shows Disabled, so to update a tenant that already has a white-label, use the push above.
How do I add a technician to every customer tenant?
- Switch to your master tenant. Under Platform Settings > User Management, click Add New User and add the technician with an email address on your partner domain.
- Open Customer Management and click Automations.
- Under Push to all subordinate tenants now, click Push next to Partner team.
The push adds partner staff from your master tenant who are missing from each customer tenant, with the same role they have in your master tenant (a Super Admin joins as an Admin). It never changes the roles of people who are already in a tenant. To add your partner team to future customer tenants automatically, enable Partner team under Apply to new subordinate tenants and click Save.
Who can create customer tenants?
Platform Super Admins and Platform Admins of your master tenant. If you can't create a customer tenant, check that you're signed in with your partner email address, and that your master tenant has been set at the bottom of the Customer Management tab.
