It is possible for CanIPhish to track employees who open certain attachments. The following file types are supported. Please use the base template provided below and do not remove or alter the small tracking pixel within each document.
Type | Extension | Base Document |
Word Document | .docx | CanIPhish-Word-Attachment.docx |
PowerPoint Presentation | .pptx | CanIPhish-PP-Attachment.pptx |
Excel Document | .xlsx | CanIPhish-Excel-Attachment.xlsx |
How does attachment tracking work?
Within each attachment, we have placed a specially crafted image which will attempt to open if an employee clicks on "Enable Editing". Once opened, the image attempts to load using a URL which points to an API we manage. Using this, we're able to identify which user opened the document and which campaign the activity is associated with. An example of this is seen below:
How do you include attachments in emails?
Simply open the email template you'd like to include an attachment in, and select to upload an attachment using the functionality shown below. Once the template is saved, this attachment will be included in any simulated phishing emails.
